Britton Street

Britton Street, 2000

The postcard I designed for my change of address notifications. The combination of waiting for BT to install the telephone line so that I could confirm my telephone number followed by the task of finishing off the web site meant the cards were not sent out until almost 4 months after moving in.

The colours and white cross, also used in this web site, were an idea based on the flag of the Order of St John which flies over the nearby St John's Gate, the Tudor gateway of the priory of the Knights of St John.

A section of a stone wall, thought to belong to the priory's Great Barn has been found up to 2m high in the site next door to 53 Britton Street on it's Briset Street side. Briset Street is named after Jorden de Briset, the Norman knight who founded the priory. Offices (Crystal Court) have now being constructed on the site.
