Macy's Column, December 2000 |

Hello dears. I've had such a lovely holiday in bonny Scotland. The view from the 'streets' is marvellous. I particularly like all those kilts. Here are some of my snaps, which I asked my photographer to take.
Well they're not quite gifted with the tropical weather we have here in Clerkenwell, but it does make those sandstone buildings look dramatic. I went to some of their galleries - not quite the Tate Modern! The Scottish Colourists 1900-1930 was especially interesting. The Dean Gallery (part of the Gallery of Modern art) has a large collection of Paolozzi sculptures and part of his Edinburgh studio. You London types might be familiar with his mosaics in Tottenham Court Road underground station or the sculpture on the British Library piazza.
And here's Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags in Edinburgh from the Calton Hill. The evening photograph is of the new Museum of Scotland in Chambers Street. Yes, the sky was blue.
And, the classic view of Edinburgh, captured while I was cruising around Calton Hill.
Bye for now dears, all my love
